GolfScore (patent pending) is invented and developed in Norway, and is a concept for score keeping in golf using contactless smart cards (Mifare standard). This gives a lot of advantages and new possibilities both for the players and the clubs compared to the traditional paper cards. You don't have to worrya bout bad weather or unreadable score cards! The actual score recording is very simple. Before the round the player visits a kiosk that is placed nearby the club house or similar. This kiosk is integrated to the GolfBox booking system, in addition to the GolfScore application. Thus, the card can also be used for booking and confirmation of tee times. In the GolfScore application the player logs in and data for the player is fetched from GolfBox or other player databases. The player then selects the playing form and tee, and when confirmation is done the score card for the round is uploaded to the players smart card. During the game the player must only remember the number of strokes that was used on the last hole and because on the way to the newx hole the player passes a GolfScore terminal. The card is used in this terminal for updating the score card and showing the points or score (gross and net) to the player. After the round the player pays the kiosk another visit for uploading of the score card from the smart card. If the round was vaild for handicap then the score card is saved. The scores can also be digitally signed by a marker carrying a card and automatic double check of the scores performed. The kiosk can also give the player a printed score card. The score cards which are saved will also be avaiable for simple statistics. GolfScore does also support keeping of fairway hits, greens in regulation and the number of putts for each hole.
